I found my old SimpleTech 128MB PATA flash drive for my old school internal MyIDE 4.2i but it's not formatted.

I'm seeking an old FDISK utilitity. I believe there is one that is newer than the old FDISK.BAS. Please note that I can't use the FDISK associated with flashjazzcat's APT and I also can't upgrade my OSes. I'd just like to get this old gear going again as is.

I think the very last time I had this flash drive running I used Altirra with MyIDE 4.3i OS, which has in internal FDISK, to build an image and used a PC do the migration to the flash drive. This is no longer a viable option for me.

regards,

Sorry, but before 4.8 there is no support to host multiple partitions on a card/drive.
MyIDE back in those days, claimed the whole physical drive without standard use of the partitionsector-LBA0.
FDISK is now called MyIDE-menu build-into the OS.
In 4.3 it is called FDISK2, called using BYE from BASIC.

Not sure what you mean with "formatted"
I do not format drives, I only create partitions, formatting is done by the DOS you want to use on it.

But it should be fine running this old drive with the 4.8 firmware.
To upgrade a 4.2 partition to 4.8 is very simple.
Just boot the drive with 4.8 go to the myide-menu and only do save/exit.
That will create a copy of LBA0 (the old MyIDE) to LBA2 (the new standard)

But it will still wipe the partition sector on a new init, creating MyIDE,APT,FAT or what ever combination you want.

Anyhow, hope this helps you out a bit.

Grtz,
Sijmen.

Hi Sijmen.

I got it working. It was a silly error.

Years ago I put a marking on the IDE flash module. It was meant to indicate a shape on the MyIDE's board. 7-8 years later I assumed the mark I made was pin
1 of the IDE connector. Unfortunately it's not.

Luckily no harm done.

By this time it was late and I couldn't remember how to use use MyIDE 4.2i's features so I just popped in my Atarimax flashcart that is flashed with SDX 4.49c beta. The SimpleTech flash drive works fine with the MyIDE APT driver.

The plan is just to restore the configuration back to MyIDE 4.2i (I have that and 3 other OSes on a 4-in-1 (27128?)

Thanks for the help. Sorry to trouble you over nothing.
