Post subject:  OSS Cartridges converted to MyIDE-][

I have converted the 4 OSS Cartridges to be used on MyIDE-][.

BASIC_XL
BASIC_XE (does not run with MyBIOS-F2 (from flash). It needs 64k. MyBIOS-R2 will do fine for IDE-access.)
MAC/65
ACTION!

PLEASE NOTE:
The original bank-switching-scheme that OSS uses is not supported by the CPLD-core.
To run these programs I created a routine that emulates OSS-banking and patched all ROMS.
This means that switching banks takes up-to 1 frame to finish, slowing down certain portions of the language.
Normally not a big issue, just to keep you up-to-date.

You must load them using the fatloader, with or without loading MyBIOS-F2 before.

Please note that BASICXE need 64k of memory, so this one does not run with the -F2 MyBIOS.
They all work on the stock OS (You need to work with SIO2PC / Atari-1050 for file access).

For BASICXE to have MyIDE-][ access you need to upgrade your atari with the (internal 16k) -R2 MyBIOS.

When you find issues, please inform me what you did to invoke them.

Please note that the bankswitch-emulation has priority over the RESET/IO-catch in the -F2 MyBIOS.
So do not press RESET (use the hot-key) and programs using standard-IO will not be intercepted.

You can check if you have the latest version looking at the file-name.
It has the date of compilation included, check if it's newer.
European-format: dd-mm-yy

Enjoy the OSS-conversions.

Added ACTION! today.

Some random lockups were reported in BASICXE with the EXTENSIONS loaded.
Need to dig into that to find the cause.

I fixed the problem with BASICXE.
Was a nasty bug in the bankswitching-emulation.

For uniformity I need to re-compile the other 3 cartridges too.
Not a big issue, the current (beta #1) versions work fine

I assume mr-atari did, as the downloadable files are now labelled 'beta #2' instead of 'beta #1'.

Dear all,

I'm sorry, having a stupid question.
What does OSS mean?
What are the files good for?
I could not find an explanation I understood.

These are the well known cartridges from
Optimized Systems Software Inc.
OSS.

Mac65, Action, Basic-XL and Basix-XE.
All patched to work with MyIDE-][.

Sorry, I'm a newbie with this cart. How do I use the OSS ROM images? What exactly do I have to do?

thanks

Randy

Load them with the fat32-loader and you are ready to go.
This will let you work with the corresponding OSS-cartridge.
Please note you can't use MyBIOS from flash and BASIC_XE together.

Hello Sijmen,

I think there's a 1.02 version of MAC/65 available. Would it be asked too much if you could convert that one too for MyIDE-][?
I don't know what are the differences but, well, we always want to have the newest and shiniest, right?

Again, thanks for your efforts.

Hi Hermann,

I did those 7 years ago, and I remember trying to convert the newer MAC/65.
Could be 1.03 or 1.02, but no success then.
It's been too long, so I leave it like it is.
Beside that, Marius told me, there are almost no differences.

I thought you had a MyIDE+1Mb ?
Now I am confused...

Grtz,
Sijmen.
