I just received my MyIDE ][ (rev. 4) but for the life of me I can't find the Maxflash Studio software. Is this the software I should use to work with this cart? I follow the link
http://www.atarimax.com/myide/documenta ... taller.exe
but it just loops me back to the overview page. What should I be doing to get disk images on to the cart?

Thanks,

Win

First: as a newby you should not try to put things on the cartridge.
When you flash it wrong, you have a (little) brick!

The CF-media is for holding stuff.

Take a CF-card, format it FAT32 and put some favorite software (com/exe/xex) on it.
Use the FAT32-loader that is on your cartridge to load them.

2nd step is to explore the possibilities of the MyBIOS and added features to your Atari.

3rd step is to modify and add programs on your cartridge itself.
But most standard users won't need to do this.

Ok, thanks. I've had some luck with the FAT32 loader, except that I can't seem to get it to work with any .atr files. Is there something unique about these? I've been able to run almost all .bin any many .rom files without much difficulty.

Thanks

Win

Better stick to executable files first.

ATR-files are disk-images and they need to be loaded with care.
That means, not much compatibility with (any) loader.
Loading ATR with FAT32 is already tricky (you need the OSB.ROM's)

ATR can best be loaded using MyBIOS, from image-space.
MyBIOS is perhaps most compatible.
That is your 2nd step, You need to setup a MyIDE-partition first.
Use the myidemanager (pc) to copy ATR's to your CF-card.

Later!

So along these same lines, I want to do the opposite. I have AtariWriter files on two floppies that I want to move to and manipulate on a PC using Word. I don't have my cartridge yet, but that should be doable, right? Other than hooking my floppy drive up to my PC?

Yeah, when you have your cartridge, just load MyBIOS and enter IMAGE-MODE.
Copy your disk from drive to MyIDE.
Then pop your CF-card in your PC and use the “MyIDE Drive Manager LBA2” (download it from 3rd party thread) to extract them from CF to PC as ATR file.
