I have tried to start images using the image manager in MyBIOS 4.9, but selecting an image and selecting Load leads to a black screen. Using the image manager in MyBIOS 4.8, which looks different, works fine (although not with all the images).

Any idea what is causing this?

Can you zip and upload the image you want to load?

From this point I can't say anything useful about it.
Could be that the image is not compatible with MyBIOS.

4.8 and 4.9 are about the same in the loading-protocol.
Except with 4.9 you can change settings (R/W, basic etc) before you actual boot the selected image.

Cheers,
Sijmen.

Aha, OK, now I see what you mend....
Load and Save in the MAIN-MENU is for saving and loading machine state.
Basically to save/freeze/load games that have no save feature.

With 4.9
To load an Image, use the IMAGE-MENU, select an Image and press enter.
Back in the MAIN-MENU, you see it's selected.
Now you can alter other selections, like enabling Basic or disabling write-protect when it's needed for this image.
Then press C to coldstart the Atari with this Image set as D1:

Grtz,
Sijmen.
