Hi, I have an Atari 800XL with extended memory, when I run Prince of Persia from MyIDE ][ get the error "File exceeds maximum allowed size". Any ideas on how to solve this? I'm using the CAR version for AtariMax: PoP_CAR_20211206_final.rar
My extended memory is 320k RAM memory upgrade plugs into the Parallel Bus port in the back of Atari 800XL.
Thanks in advance.

The myide2 has not enough ram to emulate pop as cartridge. It's to large anyway. I use the 8mb flash cartridge for pop.

Let me get this straight: If I use a 4MB (or larger) CF Card with only POP copied, will it work?

Can you point me to the exact product, please? Can I copy the file from my Mac, or it needs special hardware and software?
Thanks in advance

I have to check, it's been a while since I installed and played pop.

Been on holidays, sorry for the late reply.

The issue with the MyIDE-2 is that the file is loaded from CF to internal memory first, then executed.
Since pop is larger then the internal sram of the myide-2, you get this error message.

You could use SIDE, that I patched for use with MyIDE-2
But I do not know how SIDE itself handles FAT-files.
Since it's patched, it does not know myide-2/sram, so it I guess it loads directly from FAT.
Not sure if the loader is overwritten by loading pop, crashing the system though.

Please give a (newest) link to pop and I have a look, it's weekend anyway ;-)
Then I can recommend what flashcartridge you need.
These cartridges can be flashed from out your atari, by loading a flasher-image over SIO.

Grtz,
Sijmen.

Here is my POP conversion for MyIDE-2

To be clear, you can not load the POP atarimax-flash-file.
That is (a) to large for the internal sram and (b) it wouldn't run on a myide-2 cartridge anyway.

So I hacked my way into the bank-switching code and cut it down to the size needed.

Note: POP requires a 128k atari to run the game.

Enjoy, Sijmen
