OK - I have a system that powers on with a 'virtual' cartridge (to run a menu at power-on). Once I have finished menu selections, I reset the system and cold-boot. This works great on most all of my complex carts, those that have some sort of banking and on/off function. The 8-Mbit cart, for example, works fine: power-on, run menu, boot cart. The 1-Mbit cart, however does not work, usually. For some reason it switches itself off (drops RD5 line). Once in a great while, it works.

So, how do you switch the 1-Mbit cart on and off? Is there a map somewhere that will show the CCTL functions? Does anyone have a guess as to why the cart 'goes dark'?

Thanks!

Bob

D500..D50F turn the cartridge ON and select bank 0..F. Any higher address in D5xx turns the cartridge off.

If the cart is turning off at power up it may need to be replaced. It should start up with the cartridge turned ON at all times.

What should I send to the cart to turn it on? Write $00 to $D500?

MyIDE II does the same thing - I can see RD5 rising when I power on, but most of the time it pulls itself low before it gets all the way up (3.5v).

The 8-Mbit cart works most of the time. The 1-Mbit cart never does.

These are modified machines...

Thanks.
