Hi,

I have the MaxFlash USB Programmer, and one 8MBit cart (may get more..)

My Windows laptop is dying; I just keep it around because I have not found a workflow to make AtariMax carts using macOS or Linux.

Do the Perl Scripts work in mac or Linux?
Do the Perl scripts support the USB Programmer?

I see the Java-based AtariMax Studio supports only Windows. But I found TheCart!Studio does support Workbook creation. So (if my understanding is correct) my hope is to use TheCart!Studio, export, and then find a simple tool to upload workbooks to the USB Programmer. I'm hoping you have a barebones Perl script for that, or a workaround. Thanks!

Clarification: The Windows laptop I had been using has hardware issues; I primarily work on Mac and Linux platforms.

I have no answer to your questions, but I run my old software and hardware in "Oracle VM VirtualBox".
Works like a charm on my current Windows-10 PC....
I share one folder to both for file transfer and such.
Perhaps an idea?

That works - thanks! This is a MUCH better suggestion than the one to use Parallels (which is like $99 PER YEAR now)...

For anyone searching and stumbling into this, you want to:
# Go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... tion-media
## IGNORE the bit about Keys, just indicate Windows 10
## Next screen, indicate Win10 versions. You only need 32-bit for this (and it will save memory on the host OS)
## If the download keeps failing on FireFox for Linux, just copy/paste the URL and use 'wget' to fetch it.
### don't forget to single-quote the URL (it contains & character, etc...)
# Get Oracle VB: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
# Install the OS, install the AtariMax Studio, then download or create your workbook...

Now during install, the "trick" is to always say no to all the MS online stuff. Do not activate Windows; ignore the watermarking. I'm not sure what happens if you use trial activation, but I wanted to be safe and not activate at all (because if the USB worked for me, this is a valid long term solution).
