Hi, i'm just about to get back into the 8 bit world, and stumbled across this forum.
I'm not technical but the flash cartridge sounds like an ideal piece of kit to re live those wasted days of youth playing missile command and preppie.
can someone tell me exactly what kit i need to buy, if it will run on a
PAL I system, and is it really feasable that somone with practically zero knowlege can expect to get up and running

You would need, at a minimum, a working SIO2PC setup and a working Atari 800, XL or XE computer.

For a beginning the SIO2PC setup is a great place to start, since you will be able to pretty much any game via th PC.

Only once you get going with SIO2PC and get familiar with the setup would I move on to the flash carts.

You can find SIO2PC adapters here:

http://www.atarimax.com/sio2pc/

And software here:

There is also SIO2PC software available for Linux and Macs.
