Hi folks, I just started to play with my first 8Mbit cart this weekend and its great. I think I'll have to get a few more of these!

I'm having problems with a few games however.

Ankh - Black Screen
AlleyCat - needs -altptr?
QuasiModo - Black Screen
PooYan - Crashes
BruceLee - Black Screen
Ninja - Black Screen
PitStop 2 - Runs slow

I used this to build the image:
perl maxflash.pl -8MB -OSB -exepacker -cheese -fastkeys -flasher "../cart/" newcart.bin

Im running the cart on a 130XE (havent tried my 800XL). Most of my other games seem to work very well. AlleyCat did work on my first flash attempt when I had -altptr set. Im not sure what this setting does but I'm worried it might break other games?

I'm particularly interested in getting BruceLee and Ninja working. I've downloaded the .exe's from the website. Also they run fine from the SIO2PC directly but darned if I can get em to work off the cart.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :) What exactly is -altptr anyway?

You probably do need to use -altptr for some of those images. You can also try -altptr2, -altptr3 and -altptr4, which are not documented by exist in the source.

The 'altptr' compile switches change that base address of the in memory EXE loader, so compatibility depends on the game files themselves. Sometimes one will work better than another for a particular group of games.

Another alternative is to use Eric Bacher's MakeMenu utility, which will let you set the various OS and loader options visually using its GUI.
