Post subject:  CAR file to 8MBit Flash Cartridge ???

Hi,

I am trying to find the way how to use CAR Images with 8MBit FD ... or alternatively, how to convert CAR Images to ATR Images?
I am interested to use MAC-65 with DDT in one package (built in debugger in MAC-65).

MAC 65 1.01 with DDT.car
MAC_XE_v3.4i_with_DDT-034M.car
MAC-65_3.6_with_DDT-034M.car
MAC-65_v3.6_(1988-01-07)(Lawrow,_Stephen_D.)(US)(M091).car

???

What I found in these CAR files, some of the Directives, like .INCLUDE ... etc. are not functional. I do not know which version of MAC/65 OSS documentation I have, where the description of this product looks very good, but the found files do not follow the documentation's description. Which version of MAC-65 is complete and usable following the documentation?

All other files what I found are only single MAC-65 software, some of the with BUG65. Interestingly when I start MAC-65 with that debugger, MAC-65 ends up with SYSTEM ERROR message, but the BUG65 seems to work. I could not find any version of MAC65 with appropriate debugger software so, it is meaningless to use it. For that reason the EASMD looks like the "BEST" but I miss lots of useful option in that product.

Thanks,
Peter

You could try the SDX based cart here, which contains an option for MAC/65:

Alternatively, I took the v1.02 image from here and just repeated the binary 8 times to make an 8Mbit image:

The latter should work as I don't think it 'disables' the cartridge (which would require a different address)

you could also search out the rom files without car headers (that what car files are) and then try adding them to your workbook as usual...

CAR format files are simply the raw ROM files with an extra header tacked onto them that tells an emulator or multi-cart device (like the Ultimate or UNO carts) what sort of cartridge they are and, thus, what sort of bankswitching method that they use. The Maxflash Cartridge Studio already does this itself for ROMs or BINs that it recognizes. You could try to strip the headers out of the CAR files but I agree with _The Doctor__ that it would be much simpler to just find the raw ROM or BIN files from another source and work with them instead.

Is there an easy way to strip the headers out of a .car file?

I really want to play the latest version of Space Harrier (the 2018 version). The only file I can find is a .car file.

Any hex-editor will do fine and delete the first 16 bytes.

Did you ever sort out how to get Space Harrier working on MyIDE?

Space Harrier is for the 8mb atarimax, not myide.
