Hello,

Has anyone boxed the SIO2USB ? I don't like to have it with all the electronics outside (my gf is always bitching about this- except for the led, which are cool) If I could have a small plastic box... it would be cool. I'm looking around... I was thinking about the xm301 modem...

any ideas? suggestions?

thanks

Just to clarify myself... I meant, remove all hardware from the xm301 and use it as a box for my SIO2USB (which I received from steve...)

I am also very interested in this, but since the original poster posted this almost three years ago, I'm guessing interest is low.

Has anyone tried to do this? Right now I keep my SIO2USB in an anti-static envelope, which is functional but not pretty.

I tried with a small project case, but not happy with the results. Tough to get the LEDs visible -- either cut a hole in the side of the case or re-mount new LEDs to let them extend through the lid. Those are really fine traces on the pcb. I ended up doing mothing more than mounting the pcb on a small piece of 1/4" flooring sample for (physical) stability.

I also tried that, but in the end settled on a small clear plastic case. These are the type that spectacles repair kits come in.
I cut the slots in each end with a small hacksaw blade and the whole thing fits nicely.

I like the case!

I once bounced the Idea off Steve to put the damn things inside his clear cartridge cases.. it's about the right size! it could fit the old style and looks like the new double sio versions should fit as well... of course he could either cnc them or use a dremel/rotory tool to make the hole and room to fit!

Heck just send a cart case and we could get all craft like and make our own.

Last year sometime I saw a homebrew guy who had these on his site but wasn't making them at the time. I have since lost the link and google isn't helping. Anyone have a solution to a case for these yet?

Edit.... Disregard. I found it. He is still out of stock and his link to the 3d files is broken https://therobotfactory.net/shop/3d-prints/sio2pc-case/.

I did find someone elses though.

That looked interesting, but it doesn't fit my SIO2USB. :( The black plastic base under the SIO port extends out too far to fit in the case.

I contacted the author and he posted a wider version that fits better. :D
