One of the features I like about MyIDE is the image space where you can put existing .atr files and boot from it.
So even non-dos (non .xex files) can be started from MyIDE.
But someone mentioned that the short-cut keys of the MyIDE OS can be intrusive. Then I thought, all that functionality like selecting which image to mount, FDISK, etc, can be done from within a freezer just like the
1541-Ultimate does for the C64. Then you don't need all those keyboard combinations, just press the red button and have everything in an user friendly menu.
Also, the Turbo Freezer can map in an alternative OS (currently the 800 OS), so the MyIDE OS could possibly also be mapped in as internal OS without soldering a new ROM chip inside the Atari. Or possible implement it as proper PBI device driver rom.
But why stop there, the Turbo Freezer could even include the MyIDE interface and a CF slot so it would be an all-in-one plug 'n' play solution.
Sorry for my wild ideas. I read Hias is working on a new revision of the Turbo Freezer and it would be awesome if it had an integrated IDE interface. I don't expect this to happen but you can always dream
