I had hoped to be able to do this with the MaxFlash Studio, but I've been informed that there is no support for that.

I want to try this, but am paranoid about "clobbering" the MyIDE cart itself. Has anyone done this? If so, can you post some general instructions/precautions for flashing? I have used the scripts previously to flash the 1-Mb cart, so I'm somewhat familiar with the general operation.

Thanks,
Larry

Hi Larry,
I have this file in my collection.

Attachment:
bootrom.txt

a small but informative text about the Bootrom and other helps for MyIDE and perl scripts. I have only done this a couple of times and it has been years ago.

Good Luck!

Thanks, Roy. Good information, but I do suspect that things will change for V4.6? I probably won't make any attempt until 4.6 is actually released.

Hi Larry,

If you want, I can make you a 32k 'bootrom' file with the 4.6F-beta#6 bios inside?
If you want other roms then basic/assembler just let me know.

I use this command line to create a ATR-file for flashing:
d:\perl\bin\PERL MAXFLASH.PL -MYIDECART D:\MAXFLASHEXE\ -FLASHER
D:\maxflashexe\ is a subdirectory on my harddrive is were the atari .exe files are that I want to put into flashrom.
I command it from the folder were the maxplash.pl script (I have D:\atarimax\) is.
The file bootrom must be in a higher folder called myide (D:\atarimax\myide\)

Later,
Sijmen.

Hi Sijmen-

Thanks for the info. and offer. Maybe when 4.6 is all done, there can be some further dialogue so that users can do this more easily. I'd definitely like to be able to do this myself -- it's quite useful if one programs to any extent (even for a "dabbler" like me).

It's too bad that the Maxflash Studio can't support this, but I understand that likely only a very few folks would be interested.
