Here is a screen shot from my MyIDE internal drive, set up with 4.8.05. The drive read perfectly, but I noticed when I tried to write files, that it hung and gave error 144. The interface previously had 4.8.04 (IIRC).

Anyway -- any idea what caused this? Anything that I can do short of reformatting the module (PITA since it is a Transcend DOM)? Nothing works at the menu screen -- totally frozen. Maybe a separate tool might be useful?

Thanks,
Larry

Run SETUPxxx-RI.ATR again, looks like the MENU is overwritten by something.
(Hold SELECT on powerup and press I to bypass IDE)
Then reboot again with IDE disabled and press HELP.

Then do not write anything to the drive (yet) and let me know if you got the partition info back.

Later,
Sijmen.

YES! I have the correct partition info back. What does setup actually do? Writes menu info to the interface flash memory?

SETUP writes the menus to your IDE-media, LBA-sectors 40-104
This is an area is normally safe for FAT32 and MyIDE-access.
But I'm guessing your DOM has less sectors/cylinder needed to be safe for MyIDE.
Can you tell me the CHS reported in MyIDE-MENU?
Perhaps there is some overlap with your first partition "A"

I think the problem is the big dummy here forgot to run SETUP -- not used to doing it. My DOM is 256 MB, and here is a picture.

Hi Larry,

Ok, that could be possible.
But if you are new on 4.8.05 and did not run SETUP, you should have a RED message "MENU SIDE"
on the bootscreen. Also when no menu is present, you should not be able to get into the MENU's.
That is strange, could be an bug I have left or you did run SETUP-beta with version ID-4.8.05 on
the DOM which fooled the new MyBIOS that menus were present.

The DOM has 16*63=1008 sectors per cylinder, way enough for the MENU's to be safely stored.

Later,
Sijmen.
