Sijmen, I'm asking the same question about an old internal MyIDE (non-flash kit) with ROM based MyIDE OS. This would be for an 800XL. It's been a long time and haven't been able to read about the upgrade options. -SteveS |

Hi Guys, No, I did not forget, I thought your question was rhetorical. All info can be read on the thread of the topic. Here is the latest version for MyIDE and MyIDE-1mb viewtopic.php?p=7346#p7346 Remember the OLD MyIDE needs a SETUP to install the menus on your media, since you have no flash. On the MyIDE-][ forum you can find some residue of a later unreleased beta for MyIDE+1mb With some problems fixed I can't remember. I attached the 32k-file for do-it-yourself, it needs to be CRCed for use with the studio-software. Later, Sijmen. |

I use MyBios 4.8.05 for the original flash cartridge and the internal flash. I like it just fine -- not as full featured as the MyBios-II versions, but it doesn't have the improved hardware of the -II. I'm 99% sure that I tried it with the older Ken Jones internal version, also. It is much faster than the older 4.3I, etc. -Larry |

mr-atari wrote: I now see, totally forgotten about this.... It also has the unreleased "-0A" beta of the -FE version for the older MyIDE-1Mb cartridges (compatible with MyIDE-][) can we have this MyIDE- 1Mb version put up as an atr or rom so we can flash it. there doesn't seem to be a way for us to get it and use it on the actual MyIde- 1Mb device. At least I can't figure out how... |

I answered your request already in the myide+1mb forum. Here: viewtopic.php?p=9043#p9043 You need to make your own workbook with the ROM-image and flash that into your MyIDE+1mb. Before you can use the ROM in the workbook, you must crc32 it. |

So I drag and dropped the rom on the crc32 and it shows the rom update date as today but mcs won't take it. I am not alone in this just trying to make it happen. What's a guy to do? Just a solder jocky not a coder here. |

I tried running signcrc32.exe in Command prompt on windows vista signcrc32.exe MyBIOS-FE.ROM it doesn't say anything it just returns to the dos prompt. drag and drop just changed mod date of rom Maxflash Cart studio say it still can't perform operation failed file size, unable to identify etc etc. |

I have moved your posts to the appropriate forum. okay, try again the command-box. go to the directory with the .ROM and .EXE file. do: signcrc32.exe name1 name2 You must do this for MCS to accept the 32k file as "packed bios" addition. Try to add the .ROM file as it is "packed bios" perhaps I already have crced it? No idea anymore, this is a long way back I creates this bios..... |

I tried this in an elevated admin rights command prompt signcrc32.exe does nothing in VISTA... I tried it like this signcrc32.exe MyBIOS-FE.ROM MyBIOS-FE.PAC No notifiction of any kind it just drops back to a dos prompt... no file produced.... Maybe VISTA lacks something or changed how it handles something... Can another member try this in VISTA and post the resulting file, or if it fails, try it in another O.S. and post the resulting file. Something that should be so simple... Either way I will know if the problem is VISTA or my installation of VISTA, and I will have the PAC'd bios so I can update MyIDE... The Current version I am using doesn't allow some things to save properly when used as an image, but they work fine when I make a partition the size of a disk, format it copy/install it there and run it. A bug with the image section of 4.8.05? |

Sorry to jump into this, but I was interested and thought I'd try this Beta. Of course, it leads to questions... First, you must have already CRC'd it, since using the command line syntax that you provided, produces no new file. I presume that name2 is the new name that I would choose -- in this case MyBios-FE.PAC (?) But if I just change the name of the .ROM file to .PAC, then the programmer takes it and flashes my MyIDE (I) cart. I did have to update the programmer firmware before I could do it. Everything appears to go well. I get the regular boot menu, then the MyBios (soft-OS rom) menu. Pressing shift+cntl+tab gives me the reset menu. HELP does not work, but the MyIDE menu can be reached via Option+Select+Start at power-up. I haven't used it much, but the menu functions seem to work properly. -Larry mr-atari wrote: I have moved your posts to the appropriate forum.

A bug with the image section of 4.8.05? Seems that the .ROM file is already crced, reading Larry's post. So you can add this as packed BIOS in the workbook as it is. There is actually no need to change the name to .PAC, although it makes more sense to us humans About 4.8.5: I have no idea anymore. Been working on MyIDE-][ now for so long........ All info should be in the 4.8.5 thread. Remember that images are write-protected on start-up as default. |

I never responded to the follow up post so I do it now. I had to upgrade the maxflash studio software and change the name to .pac It did flash at that point..... If I re crc the files the new re crc file fails (I wish the crc program in windows would just dump out and give an error for already crc files, but mine didn't) All things being equal, we all won! It was a good sign that is was crc already inpiring confidence that the work was complete and finalized. I really needed to thank you for your hard work! post script, I did [U]nprotect the new version works so much better |
