Couldn't find a good place to put this that isn't locked. What is the latest release version of MyBios for the Atarimax MyIDE+Flash? Is it also 4.8.05? I saw a post about a beta 4.8.0A, but found no download file.
Thanks.

Looking some more, I did find the ATR flasher for 4.8.0A. It also says that manual, etc are the same for 4.8.05. I've got one cart with 3.5F (OSS) and one with 4.8.0A, so I will need to upgrade. Were there OSS files for that version?

Edit: I did find that the MyIDE + Flash cart works fine with my external ram upgrades using a stock 800XL (with 4.8.0A, but not with 3.5F).

The 3.5F BIOS is already very old.....
It was the first/initial release for this new hardware, based on the MyIDE-interface v3.1 drivers (interface only)
The OSS files on that 3.5F cartridge are patched manually to match the 8k banks in sequence (not the OSS 034M scheme) they are stored on.
The newer 4.8 MyBIOS run from the maxflash menu, making it impossible to cut/paste the OSS roms into the same banks.
If someone is up to this challenge, be my guest.
You can rip the patched roms using a hexeditor, 4 banks of 8k each, from the 3F file.

Follow-up.

Been browsing my HDD and found the files from 2007, specially made for you :-)

Files are 24k each rom and start not on a bank used by the studio.
Perhaps I can cook something up for you.

Grtz!

Basic C on bank 2 ($D522)
Basic XL starts on bank 3 ($D523)
Basic XE starts on bank 6 ($D526)
Assembler /|\ on bank 9 ($D529)
MAC 65 starts on bank 10 ($D52A)
Action! starts on bank 13 ($D52D)

The banking scheme of the cartridge is just to write any value to the address above.
This will select that 8k bank to be seen in $A000-$BFFF

Now, the FE-packed-BIOS is 32k (one continues block).
The studio menu itself is 8k and must be on bank 0.
Meaning: 40k of 128k used....

So looking at flash-size, and the absolute address the OSS roms must be on, it does not all fit.
Some items must be removed and some must be added, like the standard programs used for management.
Keeping in mind where to store OSS specific banks.

Grtz,
Sijmen.

Hi Sijmen,

Thanks for looking into this. Please don't go to any work creating something. I just thought they might already exist.

Regards,
Larry

I did think of one followup question. Does 4.8.05 or 4.8.0A have a fast math pack built in? If not, would it be feasible to add/patch the flasher? I searched the manual, but saw nothing mentioned. If a patch, could it also be applied to the rom and disk versions? Thanks.

I have compiled one with FMP, yes, but did not bother to share it.
It is a CRC checked 32k file, ready for use with atarimax studio.
So not a flasher in that respect, you still need to create a workbook with anything else you want on the flashrom.

What OSS languages do you need/want?
I mean, when I'm at it, I can give it a go anyway.
I guess, when I drop BASIC XL or BASIC XE (one of the two), it might work out.

Give this a try, I compiled and hacked 2 versions.

One with BASIC C and one with ATBasic 1.57
BASIC XE, Assembler (/|\), Mac65 and Action!
No room for other programs, sorry.

===

You can load the roms with or without using the MyBIOS.
With the MyBIOS, use SHIFT to re-enter the menu and select the rom you want.

When running:
SHIFT+CONTROL+TAB brings up the MyBIOS menu.

Seems to run nicely, here at my place.

Enjoy and greetings,
Sijmen.

128k raw dumps for the MyIDE+1 Mb (only).
To be used with your Atarimax Programmer.

Hi Sijmen-
In light testing, everything works except Basic XE. It goes immediately to a black screen and locks up. Since you have the FMP, Basic XL might be easier to deal with? Just a thought. BTW, just reminds me again how nice the Cartridge Studio is. Works so smoothly under Win10.

Update: My first tests were using a stock 800XL with 64K or 576K (using an external memory upgrade). I just tried it again using a stock 130XE, and BXE works there. So it evidently needs internally expanded memory. So they all work! Great!

The memory upgrade or lack there of would make it fail. BASICXE needs the same banking structure as a 130XE in order to work, it also requires that any DOS you are using doesn't occupy those banks with ramdisks or other drivers etc..

A real BXE cart will come up in 64K and function pretty much like BXL. As I remember it, a BXE cart is not usable in an 800 with 48K. In order to load the BXE extensions, then you must have at least 128K (and ram-under-rom available). I don't know specifically about any requirements for banking, but I'm 99% sure that it works fine with Rambo.

None of this detracts from being able to get it into a MyIDE + Flash, even if it requires additional memory to function.

I just tested BXE (without MyBIOS) and it works like it should.
Stock 64k 800XL.
So the cartridge image patched to work on the MyIDE+flash banking scheme, works.

Version 4.1 by the way.

Now, with MyBIOS loaded, it crashes.
Something to look into, later.

Since Basic XE does not run from a "soft-BIOS" I replaced it by Basic XL.

For MyIDE+1Mb flash only
Fast basic with an even faster MathPack (FMP).

128k image for your programmer, emulator or maxflash studio.
Flasher also included.

Larry:
"There is a small glitch in Action! where you have to go to the monitor twice to get it to work correctly.
The first time, it will show error 0, but it still works.  I'm pretty sure this small issue has always been there in these emulated versions.
Once you go the second time, it then functions perfectly.  I wouldn't give it a second thought."
