Hi everyone.

I am looking into getting a modern mass storage device for my 130XE. I have a few questions though.

I read about other devices like the SIO2USB. Which device is the best to get? Best as in fastest, easiest to use, most compatible with games, lowest price, built in menu for loading games, etc...

So far I've seen the following devices.

SIO2SD Turbo
SDrive NUXX
SIO2IDE
SIO2USB

and of course the MyIDE+Flash Interface

Thanks
John

PS: Also, what type of memory card does the MyIDE & Flash IDE Cartridge use? I see mention of a Transcend Flash Key cart. Do CF, or SD cards work as well?

sio devices all use the standard sio-port.
upto 54kbit/sec.
myide is parallel data transfer.
upto 100kbyte(!)/sec

all devices have there pro/cons.
best is to make a wish list and note what the device does.

cheers

I also bought an atari with a tape drive.. so am a bit clueless as I haven't owned an atari for years, these devices I need to use a disk drive at all to boot off etc?

it would be cool if someone would post a table comparing all the things..

I mean should I buy the cart thing with IDE + the sio pc cable?!? or could I just get away with the SIO cable..

and even then , if I use a USB converter on the serial version of it, will that work?!?! (as I have both serial port and usb only laptop)

I saw loads of things, the my-ide cart.. and other ones for SD cards and MMC.. tricky for new folk :?

You can easily transfer (downloaded) atari stuff from
your PC to a CF-card and use that in the atari+myide+flash :-)

So there is no need for real atari hardware to transfer data
from it to your myide-interface.

cheers,
sijmen.
