I have two questions.
1) Can a 600XL with 64k or more RAM use the MyIDE+Flash IDE Cartridge?
2) can a 600XL run Replacement BIOS 4.3E?
Thanks!

The answer is simple: Yes and Yes :-)

A 600XL upgraded to 64k (easy mod: replace the two 16kx4 chips with 64kx4 chips and solder a few wires) is identical to a 800XL, except for the smaller case :-)

so long,

Hias

If you have the MyIDE+FlashCart, it should work out of the box. But of course installing the 4.3E BIOS has better compatibility with software, because the RAM under the OS is kept free.

Thanks for giving feedback.

You can download the BIOS 4.3E (or 4.4E beta) from the forum:

Looking at the problems with stable highspeed...... not sure if or when.....
But the progress (hidden MyIDE-data, SD-support and SPARTA-support) will be used in future for sure!
The 4.4 is a good version if you want to use these, otherwise stay with 4.3

Cheers,
Sijmen.

What chip do I remove to install the BIOS 4.3E in the 600XL?

You have to remove the OS-chip (28pin) and replace it by a socket.
This is for easy replacing a new OS, like the BIOS 4.3E
It's located top right of the PCB, next to the 24p BASIC rom.

Cheers,
Sijmen.
