So with the success of my 128 doing what i wanted to do, i decided to upgrade my flash module to 512.

Went thru the proper steps of the fdisk menu
Created 2 partitions and set the image at 3
loaded up mydos on the sio2pc cable after disabling hard drive and re enabled hard drive using options Shift + Ctrl + D then Shift+Ctrl +E
Selected O on the configuration chose all the normal functions, ie- drive configurable, high capacity, etc... and formated the drive and wrote the dos files.
rebooted the myide drive and it locks up.

Bad module? or did i do something wrong?

Thanks

When the drive geometry in fdisk is correct, you didn't do anything wrong.
Could be a quirky bug in mydos.
The first partition D1: is a simple 720 SD?
Just redo the boot on sio2pc with hd disbabled.
press shift+control+R (reload partitiontable), just to be sure.
format d1: , configure mydos and write mydos to it.

Let me know,
Sijmen.

3.5F is a stable OS, but you could try the 4.4F.
I have improved the error- / reset- and retry-routines.
They are compatible, so you do not need to re-fdisk your drive.
Remember the direct standard boot. If you want to enter the cartridge-menu
you need to hold start+select+option at boot.

well. the flash upgrade didnt like it either.

I ended up swapping my 130XE and putting it in my 800XL and it worked like a champ on that one. everything is running fine.
When i put it back in the 130XE it didnt like the again. So i guess ill just keep in the 800XL.

Weird that the 130XE will handle the Transcend 128 just fine but not the Transcend 512.

There is a compatibility issue between atari's. This is a misterious phenomena that
makes MyIDE not working with certain atari's and certain IDE-media.

Steve can check if you have the cartridge with the correct 74245-chip.
The later productions have a different chip (the LS type) that work better on all atari's.
I believe he does a free replacement if you have problems and have the older production (with F type).
Cant find the topic on the forum right now.

Look at the last post in this thread.

Early Transcend modules pretty much *all* worked. Later, larger ones are a different story.

Sandisk's always work, but they quit selling the nice industrial modules.
