Modification of Bryan's MULE image is complete and it works good, with a few gotchas.

The image has to be installed in slots 126 and 127 on the cartridge. I've split it into two separate files, each numbered with the correct slot to install them in. MULE is twice the size of a normal 5200 cart so it takes up two 'slots' on the flash cartridge.

Select slot 126 to start the game. :D Once the game is started all controls such as Reset, start, etc should work normally. Power on/off to return to the flash cartridge menu.

Bryan was nice enough to give his permission to modify his MULE release for use on the flash cartridge, thanks Bryan. :D

Now for the egg on my face portion of the posting.

It looks like I sent out some of the pre-orders with the last beta testing firmware not the final firmware. If the game crashes when you are done selecting your character, you will need to send back your cartridge so I can re-program it with the final firmware.

Only carts assembled in the first batch of pre-orders will have this problem, all the others have the correct final firmware installed already.

This only takes a minute to program so it will go back out the same day. E-mail or PM to arrange service.

Thanks

Steve

So when you install the 2 images on the cart, there will be two entries for MULE and you just pick the first one to load the game???

Yep, the extra code in the 2nd slot is just for support of the 1st slot, if you select it separately it will not run.

Not on the current hardware. I've been considering making a new cart with expanded capabilities, but there really are only a few bank switched games to use such a cart with. :(

what poke do you use to access the second bank? Then from the second bank how do you get back to the first bank? I'm working on a 2 32k bank game myself!

thanks!

I, too, would like to know how to program a game to use multiple banks. I'm working on a game for the Maxflash for the 800 and would love to be able to port it to the 5200. I would need more than 2 banks, however, which I would assume would not be a problem.
