Hi a friend told me about atari carts for sale so I ordered up a 8 bit cart.

Its been a long time since I did any 8bit hacking. I have a few questions.

The cart came with no docs so I assume they are all here.

I have two atari 800s and three 1050s. I also have a PC (Com port) to Atari cable somewhere in my house.

On my PC I have just about all the old atari games in ATR format. I also have most of the games in orginal dying disk format too.

I take it the cart I have is blank.
What software do I need to get my old titles working on my 4 joystick 800 machine?

Has anyone been able to get bounty Bob working on a 48k machine? As I remember it was a 64k cart. I can only play it via PC emulator.

I have seen a few multi carts but none have MULE on them. MULE is the main reason I want the cart. My disk died and I still have buddies that like to play it (Yes after 25 years) nothing beats 4 player MULE.

My multicart would be

1. MULE
2. Zombies
3. Miner 2049
4. Oils Well
5. Star Raiders
6. Archon one and two
7. Bruce Lee
8. BallBlazer
9. Loderunner
10. Serpentine
11. 7 cities of gold.
12. Larry Bird vs Dr. J one on one basketball
13. Drols

Is this doable on a 800?

I can never get any to work on my 800, I have a 800XL, 1200XL and 130XE and they work great on all those.

As far as the software see the docs Steve has online, it's all there. Its all command line drive, but there is a front end called Makemenu which works great!

Have fun!

No way. when I purchased the cart it did not say it would not work with the 800. The 800 is the only machine you can play 4 man mule on.

So my cart is worthless for my 800?

The cartridge itself works fine on an 800, but because the 800 only has 48k and no RAM under the OS region, you will not be able to use the -diskpacker option, which replaces the OS with a patched OS on XL/XE machines.

You will still be able to make multi-carts from XEX/COM/EXE files, as long as the games you select do not require 64k.

A lot of the games on your list are disk-only games, so you would not be able to run them from cartridge on an 800.

There is a special MULE conversion that will run from the 1mbit cart on a 48k 800, but it cannot be loaded with other games into a multi-cart.
