I discovered today that the internal flash MyIDE is not compatible with the CSS Black Box. I thought it would be when set to the XE "failsafe" position, but that is not the case.
Presume that I must put an on/off toggle switch in the connection line with the 74LS138, pin 14? Should that do it?
Incidently, the internal flash MyIDE is compatible with the old ICD MIO (again, in the XE position). That worked just fine.

Hi Larry,
I'm not deeply familiar with the devices mentioned.
MyIDE (internal) has a operating system without the PBI-routines.
So that is one problem. The other is that internal MyIDE uses address
$D10x the same area for the blackbox? You can connect MyIDE to $D50x
and use the MyIDE-OS for 'external' IDE.
I'm curious if that would work.
Cheers,
Sijmen.

Hi Sijmen-
Thanks for the quick reply!
I should have added that I connected the failsafe jumper posts to a toggle switch when I installed the module. No messing with the jumper when I want the XE OS (with PBI drivers).
I believe that I have another 130XE that is set up as you describe, but with a toggle switch so that I can select internal or external MyIDE position.
Anyway, I did clip the wire to the 74LS138 pin 14, and now the BB does work, so I think what I'll do is use a double pole switch (instead of the current single pole) so that when I switch to the XE (failsafe) position, it will also break the connection to pin 14. (Could hook the unused pole to the internal position, also -- pin 10. I'll try out that internal position tomorrow.)

I moved the wires around, connecting to 74LS138 pin 10 instead of pin 14.
With the current MyIDE OS I'm using, this does not work, although when the failsafe switch is set to the XE position, the Black Box works fine.

Hi Larry,
For the pin 10 (external $D500) configuration, you need the 4.3e OS.
Use the attachment to flash your system.
Cheers,
Sijmen.
