Hello,

I just tried to update Atarimax MyIDE+Flash cart with the image present on this site :

http://www.atari8.co.uk/myide/

And now MyIDE cart is pretty much dead. There is anyform that I can reflash the cart externally (using a jtag cable) ? Just to know, I don't have any disk drive or other Atari peripheral.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Daniel

Sounds like your cartridge needs to be flashed using the "hot swap" method.

See here

http://www.atarimax.com/flashcart/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1026

and here

http://www.atarimax.com/myide/documentation/chapter2.html#qa

You can find Mr. Atari's MyIDE version 3.5F flashing utilty here

http://www.atarimax.com/flashcart/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=357

or MyBIOS (new name for the OS) version 4.7 beta 6 here

http://www.atarimax.com/flashcart/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1086

or you could just use the hot swap method with the version of MyIDE software supplied with your MyIDE+Flash cartridge.

Yes. On the first link the guy had the same problem that I had. MyIDE dead after flashing SDX_445 BIOS....

My main problem is that I don't have any other device that I can load a disk image with the flasher program. I will mount a PLCC-32 to DIP-32 converter to use on a friend's EPROM programmer to try to reflash. I think with that I will solve the problem more easier and faster that trying to import some other device to Brazil.

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi daniel,

How did you flash to SDX then?
Do you have the 128k eeprom file?
Or you can upgrade to the latest 4.7 MyBIOS here on the forum too.

Later,
Sijmen.

BTW
the SDX445 should work, only some problems with stock atari /w only 64k
and running the APT-software to configure your IDE-device.

I flashed in the same way that I flashed the 4.7 MyBios. I placed the .ATR file inside one of the "image" slots on the CF card using the "MyIDE Drive Manager" (excelent tool). For MyBios it worked flawlessly, but for the SDX445 .ATR image it failed.

Steve already sent me the raw file for the original 3.5 and I will flash using a friend's eeprom programmer. Just finnishing to adapt a PLCC-32 socket to a DIP-32 socket for use in the eeprom programmer...

Regards,
Daniel

The original BIN file is also in the topic about 3.5F :-)

Yeah, the only safe way to flash from image-space is when you go from MyBIOS to MyBIOS.
No idea how SDX behaves and perhaps premature shuts-down the IDE-port while flashing the chip.

Succes and let me know how it goes further.

Sijmen.

Just to let you know..

I just reflashed the flash memory using a EPROM Programmer of a friend. The most boring part was to make a PLCC-32 to DIP-32 adapter to use it in the Programmer. Reflashed to 3.5 and soon after updated again to MyBIOS 4.7. SIDE Loader rocks a lot!

Quick question: Anyone knows why Gyruss did't work loading from the SIDE Loader on the MyIDE ? Tried 3 different versions but no one worked.

Thanks!

Daniel

No guarantee but Draco30 redid Gyruss recently at this site: http://drac030.krap.pl/en-fixes.php
Hope it works for you but I don't have problems with the orignal file. Of course I don't play Gyruss very often.

Hmmm, good question, I'll put this on my to-do list.
Not sure anymore, but I think I had to include some patches in MyBIOS to make Gyruss load from an image-slot.
Since SIDE is 3rd party I do not know, but I can use altirra to debug :-)

Thanks! This version was ok to run through SIDE Loader.

No need. It appears that the problem was in the images available on the net. I tried Draco30 version and it worked like a charm on the SIDE Loader. By the way, this SIDE Loader was an excelent addition to MyBIOS! Straightforward and easy to use!

Thanks!

Thanks, but the credits should go to "Candle".
I only used his ROM-image with permission and changed the boot-code to work with ATARIMAX+1Mb+IDE

Cheers,
Sijmen.
