For the MIST AtariFest VIII
At Indianapolis JULY 13

Let's Hope HADES and MEDUSA
Make the Trip With Toad

Vendor Packs Are in the Mail
But Many Addresses Out of Service

Contracts and packets for vendors, developers, and user groups have
been in the mail for weeks for the 8th Mid-Indiana ST MIST AtariFest
on July 13, 1996 -- but too many are coming back with addresses
marked "Forwarding Order Expired."

If you have an updated address or know a friend who changed
his/her Postal Service mailing address in the last 12 or 18 months,
let us know by Email.

The MIST address is: < shuffman@ideanet.doe.state.in.us >

Dave Troy at Toad Computers just announced that a new 68040/060
machine called HADES should be available by the end of May --
so maybe there can be one or two for the show in Indianapolis.
Well under $3,000. HADES -- it's hellishly fast! It comes from the
Swiss folks who also cloned the Atari as MEDUSA. Email to Toad:
< dave@toad.net > (or on the Web: < http://www.toad.net >

July 13 is a 1996 date for MIST. Fact is, Indy is full of racers and auto
buffs all summer long, and there's hardly a sleeping room to be had
later in the month ... so the traditional last of July date for
MIST Fest is changed to July 13.

Same hours as in the past: Open at 10 a.m. and close where there's
no one left. That's 10 a.m. Indianapolis Time (11 Eastern Daylight
Time). Indianapolis is year-around on Eastern Standard Time --
Never on Daylight.

Same place ... at the two ballrooms at the Best Western Waterfront
Plaza Hotel ... and room to spread out the merchandise as well as the
crowd. Last year's event attracted nearly 350 ticket-buying Atarians
(almost as many as the year before, although it may not have looked
that way since we were not nearly so crowded).

Charlie Sears is ready to take table reservations: Save $10 NOW off
the $75 rate for commercial vendors/developers or $35 rate for
user groups. (A $10 discount applies to vendors and groups
PAID BY JUNE 15. Send Charlie a check today -- address below.)

(And yes, we still have a smaller $10 space to accommodate
individual users who are not part of a group -- but solo slots
don't include the $3 admission ticket and user groups and
vendors get two admission tickets included in their table rates.)

Charlie has the room layout in tentative form, and he might be
enticed to get you a special spot if you call early and pay early:
Call his home at 317.535-4829 or leave him mail on his
Crossroads/MIST BBS at 317.535-1643 or 317.780.5473
(FidoNet 1:231/310.0 and AtariNet 51:203/8).

You can reply to me at < shuffman@ideanet.doe.state.in.us >
(and I do intended to get back on GEnie, assuming it continues
to be the Atari Place To Be ... but I have been playing the
WWWeb Games a lot lately and had no time for GEnie).

Hotel rooms will be scarce even on July 13, the Best Western
people tell us, but they agreed to give us a deal about $5 higher
than last year: $55 Single or $61 Double ... but you MUST RESERVE
the room by JUNE 12 -- 30 days in advance of the MIST Fest to get that
rate (and probably to get a room at all). To get the rate, DO NOT
call Best Western's 800 number; you must call the Indianapolis hotel itself
and make the reservation with the Catering/Conference Staff. If you call at
night or on a weekend, leave a message for them to call you back. They
do that. The Indianapolis phone number is 317.299.8400 and the
Catering/Conference Staff extension is x393.

It's not a bad place to stay, as you know, even if the restaurant leaves
something to be desired during some years. The indoor pool is nice and
there are several franchise restaurants nearby -- plus the Indianapolis
Motor Speedway with Indy Car Museum and Indianapolis Raceway Park.

MIST in Indy July 13 ... it's the place to be!
