---------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Atari friends,

It's once again time for the Nordic Atari Show, the annual get together
which has rapidly become a fixture for all Atari users.

Third time lucky, so they say, and as we arrange the show for the
third straight year we hope to fulfill everyone's expectations and that
this will result in the best possible atmosphere. We've gotten a certain
amount of criticism, both positive and negative, from those who have
attended the shows in '95 and '96. We've taken heed of the suggestions
made and we're once again off and running!

1 - WHEN AND WHERE?

This year the show will begin on Friday, June 13 and end on Sunday,
June 15. This is the weekend following the beginning of the summer school
holidays as well as the weekend prior to the Swedish Midsummer
celebrations. We'll open at 12 p.m. on Friday and close at 6 p.m. on
Sunday.

NAS97 will be held at a school called LUNDBY GYMNASIUM at HISINGEN,
GOTHENBURG. Hisingen is a large island very close to the main parts of
Gothenburg. There are a lot of local transportations there.

A map for the route description can be found at www.tripnet.se/sak/nas

GOING BY TRAIN
The train arrives at Centralstationen. Take tram 2 (destination
Biskopsgarden) at Nordstaden and get off at the stop Rambergsvallen.
Signs will lead your way to LUNDBY GYMNASIUM.

GOING BY BOAT
Boats arrive near the tram stop Masthuggstorget. Take tram 3, 4 or 9 to
Brunnsparken, then change to tram 2 (destination Biskopsgarden) or 5
(destination Lansmansgarden) and stop at Rambergsvallen. Signs will lead
your way.

GOING BY PLANE
Take the airport bus to Centralstationen. Follow the instructions as under
"going by train".

GOING BY CAR
Please have a look at the map, LUNDBY GYMNASIUM is nearby a large road
and should not be hard to find.

2 - WHAT WILL IT COST?

If you intend to attend all three days, you cheapest solution is the
Three Day Pass otherwise a Single Entry ticket will do:

* Three Day Pass ... SEK 150:- (about UKP 12,75)
*  Single Entry ..... SEK  80:-

These prices include full access to all the activities being held during
NAS97.

3 - EXHIBITION

The exhibition hall is open:
Friday 12-18, Saturday 11-20 and Sunday 11-18.

At the exhibition you can see:

DISK1 (Sweden)
Will be showing Jaguar games and other fun stuff for Atari.

Daggskimmer/Tom Thomason (Sweden)
Bo Leuf and Tom Thomason will be demonstrating Papyrus, Interface and other
shareware products. Tom will also be handling registrations for those.

Peter Segerdahl
One of the authors of Zero-X, the fantastic sample editing program,
shows how to use Zero-X the best way.

Thorsten Butschke (Germany)
As last year, Thorsten is here and showing and taking registrations for
shareware products and the magazine Atari Computing.

16/32 systems (England)
Nic Harlow has always been at NAS, so why any different this year?
He's showing CD:s for Atari, games and more.

Line Audio
Roger J?nsson shows the different JAM products and more for the musican.

SAK and SAK/Skane
The Swedish Atari Users' Association and the local department in Skane are
here too, to show different programs and computer systems in action. SAK
will sell T-shirts, PD-disks, have a soldering corner and a swap meeting
too for those who whises to sell, buy or trade single items of interest.

4 - HACKER CONVENTION

Demogroups and other programmers can gather for competitions and
swap demos and all kinds of code. NoCrew is the Swedish demo group
who will see to it that everybody takes part and enjoy themselves.
Those of you hungry after rewards in the form of prizes will be well
taken care of. Exactly WHAT prizes these will be hasn't been
  established, as yet.

  These are the competitions:
  Wild compo
  Unlimited demo compo

More detailed information will be sent out to all demogroups by NoCrew.
You can also make contact directly to them at their homepage at
  www.nocrew.pp.se

5 - SEMINARS

Last years seminars were very much appreciated, something of which we
  naturally have taken notice.

The SEMINARS will be held from 12 p.m. on Saturday and hopefully
some of them even on Friday or Sunday. But - please attend on Saturday if
you don't want to miss any of them.

  - Peter Rottengatter
  - About STiNG and Internet
Peter is the author of STiNG (the follow-up to STiK), and he will
talk about installation and practical use of this program, plus some
general talk about Internet and software for Atari.

  - Martin Graiter
  - Hardware seminar
Martin is a hardware specialist with long practical experience repairing
  and servicing Atari computers.

  - Mille Babic
  - HTML and Internet access
Mille will talk about HTML, and show how this cryptical language
really works. He also gives a lesson about going through the net,
  practically, with you Atari.

  - Claes Holmerup
  - The hardware behind digital recording
Claes was here last year also, and talked about digital mastering.
Now he shows a bit more about all that hardware that's required
to make a digital recordning. Claes will also show how CD burning
can be done with an Atari computer.

  - Rolf Johansson
  - Layout with Calamus SL
What is Calamus SL, and how can one use it? Rolf shows how the
club magazine is done, special functions and regulars in
the software plus a bit about the new version SL96.

  - Ulf Hogberg, Rolf Johansson and others
  - General Atari Questions
We will also have a little "chat" seminar where you can ask questions
about everything - and we'll try to answer them. Maybe this also
can become some form of a debate, we don't know right now. Please
attend, as we might need you help.

6 - MORE ACTIVITIES

* Minor competitions such as "A-Z on the Keyboard" (a much appreciated
contest last year), hard disk throwing (this year it WILL happen!),
network games, juggling, etc. Everything depends on our finding
volunteers to act as game leaders and referees. There will be prizes
  for the winners.

* A refreshment stand will sell non-alcoholic drinks, sweets, chips,
etc. We CAN arrange quantity discounts at the local pizzeria, and
  will take orders for this.

* Internet cafe, with possibilities to surf on the Internet, chat,
telnet or whatever that is legal. The cafe will be nearby the
"normal" cafe, or refreshment stand as written above.

7 - GENERAL RULES AT THE SHOW

* No smoking inside the building or by windows and doors.

* No alcohol, beer or anything like drugs will be tolerated inside
the show. Please have fun with that outside in the city, but not
at NAS97. All such things found will be confiscated.

* Keep a good attitude against other people and show your tickets
to the staff if asked for it.

Anyone breaking these rules or acting violently will be thrown
out of the show.

8 - WHY SHOULD I ATTEND NAS?

The answer is simple: because you care about the TOS platform. We Atari
owners are becoming fewer and fewer and a get-together like NAS is a
simple way of seeing what's happening in the Atari world (no, it's not
dead!) and meeting like-minded Atarians and hearing what kind of tips,
ideas and visions they have.

9 - HOW CAN I FIND OUT MORE?

Information will be distributed regularly in the same way as this text
file. In addition, we have a number of other sources of information
where you can find out more about the show depending on your own resources.

* Our mailing list (e-mail). This will provide the very latest information
to those on the list. To have yourself put on the list you MUST have an
e-mail address. Send us a message on "nas-users-request@tripnet.se" with
"subscribe nas-users" in the body of the text. Don't forget to include
  your e-mail address.

* Our home page on the World Wide Web. This has been in existence since
last year and we'll try to update it as often as the information for the
mailing list. The home page will contain more detailed information
concerning times, schedule of events, directions on how to get there,
  competitions and housing.

  The address is "www.tripnet.se/sak/nas".

* STraight BBS. This is the Swedish Atari Club's home BBS. Information
concerning NAS will be included in the SAK menu. You can also use this
BBS to ask any questions you may have. The telephone number is:
  +46 31-336 39 73.

* Our club magazine, "AtariMagasinet", will contain adverts with more
detailed information concerning NAS97 in issues 1/97 and 2/97. This is
the largest mailshot we will send to our (SAK's) members.

* Our show co-ordinator is Rolf Johansson. He's supposed to know everything
there is to know about NAS97. If you have questions to which you've been
unable to get answers anywhere else you can send him a message at
"rojo@tripnet.se" and you'll get your answers. If you wish to get into
direct contact with him, he can be reached on his mobile phone on
  +46 70-669 52 35.

  KEEP THE TOS PLATFORM ALIVE.
WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE YOU AT THE NORDIC ATARI SHOW 1997!
